Treating Mood Disorders​
Mood disorders, such as bipolar disorder, can significantly impact daily life, relationships, and overall well-being. Bipolar disorder, characterized by extreme mood swings that range from manic or hypomanic highs to depressive lows, is a complex condition that can be challenging to manage without the right support. We use a combination of therapeutic approaches to treat mood disorders, including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). DBT offers skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness, which are particularly beneficial for managing the intense emotions associated with bipolar disorder. ACT encourages you to accept your emotions and thoughts without judgment while committing to actions that align with your values and long-term goals.

 

In some cases, we may also incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to address any underlying trauma that may be exacerbating your mood disorder. EMDR can help you process past experiences that contribute to mood instability, providing relief from triggers that may lead to mood swings.
