Welcome to Mountain Heart Counseling Moments: A Blog Dedicated to Providing Insight and Coping Skills For Life's Challenges

Hi there, and welcome! I'm Holly, a mental health therapist who is passionate about helping individuals heal from trauma and learn practical coping skills for life's daily challenges. In this blog, I hope to provide you with useful tools, insights, and support for your mental health journey.


When I worked as an attorney and later a clinical therapist for the incarcerated, I came to recognize that trauma permeates individuals and society in so many ways. From intergenerational and historical trauma to complex trauma and PTSD, trauma can overwhelm the mind and body and lead us to engage in unhealthy and dysfunctional behaviors as ways to cope with the weight of our experiences. My goal as a mental health therapist is to provide you with validation, support, and a sense of safety when it comes to exploring trauma and healing. I love incorporating Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy into my work with clients.


So what can you expect from my Mountain Heart Counseling blog? I will be sharing some of the resources I find helpful in managing stress, anxiety, depression, and more. I will include a "DBT Skills Corner" where I will be posting about a specific DBT skill and explaining how it helps and can be incorporated into your routine. I also want to provide psychoeducation about trauma and certain therapeutic modalities, interventions, and coping skills that can be useful in managing the effects of trauma.
